R Place and Washington on the Brazos Park

We arrived in Bryan, met up with Aaron and took a short drive to Navasota for some Texas history and BBQ.  There is a former neighborhood grocery “store” (small building) that is now a BBQ place that gets rave reviews on trip advisor.  It’s called R Place and it’s full of charm.  It was too early for dinner, but we managed to eat a little BBQ anyway.  It was yummy!

Around the corner was Washington on the Brazos State Park.  There is a nice welcome center with abundant history about the creation of the republic and state of Texas.  Nice trails, a museum and we also found a little farm where people wear period clothing, take care of animals and sometimes put on shows.  We got there right before closing so we missed out. No big deal.  Taylor was looking for rabbits and they had chickens, turkeys and pigs.
