The Troup’s March into Paris

Tammy LOVES this little Fiat we got. It was a great decision NOT to get the car until the day we leave Amsterdam.  No parking or rental cost for three days and we took public transit so no issues.  Drive down took about 5 hours.  Really smooth and no traffic until we got into Paris.

Ok, this is Tammy writing now.

Our hotel in Amsterdam was in the suburbs, nice and quiet and we took the trams into town. Our hotel here is this cute little boutique hotel right in the middle of town. All down the streets here are little cafe’s, bakeries, and shops. We are definitely walking or taking the metro now that we are here. The car is parked in a garage because the streets here are super crowded and the people drive crazy. After settling in we set off for the Eiffel tower.

I was speechless when I first saw it. You see pictures of it your whole life, but standing in front of it was incredible. There were people all around taking pictures and at the base of it are vendors and it has a park feel to it.  We plan to go up to the top before we leave. We kept going up to the river and walked to the Louvre. Let me say this…….Paris is full of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and we just scratched the surface. As it got dark, they lit up the tower and the other buildings along the river. Also, every hour on the hour after dark, the Eiffel tower starts to sparkle with white twinkling lights for about five minutes while you hear the nearby church bells ringing. Its beyond cool.
